GRIMES, Iowa – July 9, 2021 – Bridge deck work on eastbound Interstate 35/80 between Northwest Beaver Drive/Northwest 44th Street and Northwest 26th Street/Northwest Morningstar Drive in Polk County requires shifting traffic onto the outside lanes and new bridge over the Des Moines River beginning Thursday night, July 15, with the new traffic pattern in place by Friday morning, July 16, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office. Traffic on the westbound lanes of I-35/80 will remain unchanged.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
