The RISE program was established to promote economic development in Iowa through construction or improvement of roads and streets.  Iowa cities and counties are eligible for funding in the form of a grant, loan, or combination thereof.  Projects must involve construction or improvement of a public roadway.  There are two RISE project types: 1) Immediate Opportunity, and 2) Local Development.  More information is available at www.iowadot.gov/systems_planning/rise.htm.

Knoxville: Up to $718,532 from a combination of the city and county shares of the RISE Fund was approved for an Immediate Opportunity grant to assist in improvements to Iowa 14 including an approximately 200-foot southbound left-turn lane located on the south side of town. This project is necessary to provide improved access to the proposed expansion of Weiler, Inc, a manufacturer of heavy equipment, to support the creation of 122 new full-time jobs and $20,043,133 in associated capital investment.  This project is anticipated to be completed by October 2020.

Johnson County: Up to $455,436 from the county share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in construction of approximately 1,978 feet of Canyon Court located northeast of Swisher. This project is necessary to provide improved access to nine lots totaling more than 42 acres for light industrial and manufacturing purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by October 2020.
