CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 20, 2021 – The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office would like to make the traveling public aware of three projects along U.S. 151 in Linn County between Marion and Springville that will impact traffic. The project will extend through the fall 2021 construction season and involves the following projects:
- Bridge deck repair work on the southbound bridge over East Big Creek, 1.1 miles south of Linn County Road X-20 near Springville.
- Replacement of the bridge over Crabapple Creek 2.9 miles north of the north junction with Iowa 13.
- Replacement of concrete pavement on northbound U.S. 151 at Crabapple Creek, 2.9 miles north of the north junction with Iowa 13.
Traffic impacts will include lane closures and head-to-head traffic patterns in May, with additional lane restrictions later in the project. Traffic will not be detoured. Steger Construction of Dyersville is the prime contractor for this $3.5 million dollar construction project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
