DAVENPORT, Iowa – July 9, 2020 – Preparation work for a bridge deck overlay project at the U.S. 61/Interstate 80 interchange in Davenport requires alternating lane closures on southbound U.S. 61 beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, July 13, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.
Closure of the exit ramps to southbound U.S. 61 from east- and westbound I-80 will begin on Wednesday, July 22. This project will be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
