Iowa Department of Transportation

GRIMES, Iowa – March 19, 2020 – On Tuesday morning, March 24, weather permitting, construction crews will be shifting the north- and southbound traffic to the outside shoulder south of the East First Street interchange with Interstate 35 in Ankeny. All lanes of traffic will be maintained through the shift, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.

Northbound I-35 traffic will be shifted between East First Street and 36th Street until November 2020, while southbound traffic will be shifted again in late April.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
