GRIMES, Iowa – Sept. 6, 2019 – The second stage of a project to reconstruct the interchange of Iowa 415 and 66th Avenue into an intersection with traffic signals will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 11, northbound Iowa 415 traffic will use the new inside lane of southbound Iowa 415 and southbound traffic will use the new outside lane of southbound Iowa 415 in a head-to-head traffic pattern. The contractor will then begin removing and reconstructing the old northbound Iowa 415 lanes and the 66th Avenue lanes to reconstruct the intersection. Traffic on Iowa 415 will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction, and 66th Avenue will remain closed at Iowa 415. This configuration is expected to be in place until Thanksgiving, weather permitting.
Delays on Iowa 415 are anticipated during the morning and evening rush hours. Motorists on Iowa 415 are asked to observe warning messages on electronic signing and be alert for any traffic backups that may occur.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
