GRIMES, Iowa – April 18, 2019 – The first stage of a project to reconstruct the interchange at Iowa 415 and 66th Avenue to an intersection with traffic signals will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, and end on Thursday, July 4, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
The contractor will be removing the southbound Iowa 415 lanes and the 66th Avenue lanes to reconstruct the intersection. Traffic on Iowa 415 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and 66th Avenue and all four ramps will be closed at Iowa 415. A detour will be established for 66th Avenue directing traffic north to Oralabor Road. Temporary traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of 60th Avenue and Iowa 415 to help with the flow of the detour.
Starting Monday, April 29, southbound traffic will use the inside lane of northbound Iowa 415 in a head-to-head traffic pattern. Delays on Iowa 415 are anticipated during the morning and evening rush hours. Motorists on Iowa 415 are asked to observe warning messages on electronic signs and be alert for any traffic backups that may occur.
