Grimes, Iowa – March 15, 2018 – The southbound 86th street entrance ramp to westbound/southbound Interstate 80/35 and the eastbound/northbound I-80/35 exit ramp to 86th Street will be closing the week of March 25, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office.

The entrance ramp to I-80/35 from 86th Street will close at 11 p.m. on Monday night, March 25. The exit ramp from eastbound I-80/35 to 86th Street will close at 11 p.m. Tuesday night, March 26, weather permitting. 

The ramps will be closed until the first week of July 2019 while the contractor finishes paving the additional lanes of the interstate and repaves half of the ramps. The northbound 86th loop to westbound/southbound I-80/35 will remain open.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
