RISE grant applications approved
The RISE program was established to promote economic development in Iowa through construction or improvement of roads and streets. Iowa cities and counties are eligible for funding in the form of a grant, loan, or combination thereof. Projects must involve construction or improvement of a public roadway. There are two RISE project types: 1) Immediate Opportunity, and 2) Local Development. More information is available at www.iowadot.gov/systems_planning/rise.htm.
Sioux Center: Up to $257,849 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in the construction of approximately 720 feet of 16th Street Northeast located on the northeast side of town. This project is necessary to provide access to five lots totaling more than 12 acres for industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by November 2019.
Norwalk: Up to $100,547 from the city share of the RISE Fund and $87,744 from the county share of the RISE Fund was approved for a modified Local Development grant to assist in the reconstruction of approximately 560 feet of Delaware Street. This project is necessary to provide improved access to the Ancell/Knox Property General Industrial Site, an Iowa Economic Development Authority certified site of more than 55 acres. This project is anticipated to be completed by December 2018.
Davenport: Up to $1,032,248 from the city share of the RISE Fund and $98,452 from the county share of the RISE Fund was approved for a modified Local Development grant to assist in the reconstruction of approximately 4,200 feet of Slopertown Road. This project is necessary to provide improved access to the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center certified site of more than 130 acres for future industrial development. This project is anticipated to be completed by November 2019.
