Iowa Department of Transportation

MASON CITY, Iowa – March 20, 2018 – A two-year project to reconstruct Iowa 122 from South Monroe Avenue to South Carolina Avenue in Mason City will require lane closures on either end of the project beginning on Monday morning, April 2, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office.

The westbound Iowa 122 lanes will be closed for reconstruction beginning Monday morning, April 16. At that time, all traffic will be moved to the eastbound lanes in a two-lane, two-way pattern with a center turn lane. The eastbound lanes will be reconstructed in 2019.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
