NCDOT Accepting Submissions for State’s Best Trails by
RALEIGH – There are a lot of ways to spend time outdoors in North Carolina. The state boasts thousands of miles of trails – from scenic hiking trails and waterways to urban greenways. Now, the N.C. Department of Transportation is joining forces with other state departments to spotlight North Carolina’s most loved trails on the new N.C. Great Trails State map. Citizens are invited to share their favorite North Carolina trail with WalkBikeNC. Submissions received by January 15, 2016 will be considered for placement on the inaugural map, which will be made available in 2016 at local and statewide events celebrating trails. Look for future announcements regarding these special events. WalkBikeNC is the NCDOT Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation’s official program for improving bicycle and pedestrian transportation as a means to enhance mobility, safety, personal health, the economy, and the environment.  Visit the WalkBikeNC website to submit your favorite trail and learn more about walking and bicycling in North Carolina.
