Iowa Department of Transportation

AMES, Iowa – August 13, 2020 – The Iowa Department of Transportation is hosting an online meeting for the I-80/I-380 Systems Interchange construction. The I-80/I-380 Systems Interchange Project is a comprehensive redesign that will modernize the interchange and improve mobility and safety. This project is in Johnson County at the junction of I-80, I-380 and U.S. Highway 218. Construction for this project is expected to continue through 2024. The Iowa DOT is replacing the existing interchange with a higher capacity design that will benefit freight trucking, public and commuter traffic, and the rural agriculture and manufacturing economy. Today, this interchange experiences excessive congestion and related safety concerns. The project will reconstruct the interchange and add lanes, allowing more vehicles to travel safely and smoothly through the area.
