FAIRFIELD, Iowa – July 30, 2020 – Emergency repairs to pavement settling on the southbound lane of U.S. 63 between the U.S.63/Iowa 92 interchange in Oskaloosa and Mahaska County Road G-71 (310th Street) north of Eddyville requires temporarily closing the southbound lane to traffic according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 5 Office.
During this temporary road closure, motorists will be directed to use an official detour route (see map) using Iowa 92, Iowa 23 and Iowa 149.
Repairs are expected to take up to a week, and may vary depending on weather and other conditions.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
