(Washington, DC) – To support breast cancer awareness, beginning on June 18, 2019, District of Columbia residents will be able to purchase a Breast Cancer Awareness specialty license plate from the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV). The tag is available at all four of the agency’s Service Centers:
- Benning Ridge, 4525 Benning Road, SE;
- Georgetown, 3270 M Street, NW, Canal Level;
- Rhode Island, 2350 Washington Place, NE, Suite 112N, and
- Southwest, 95 M Street, SW.
For this specialty tag, residents will initially pay $45. There is a one-time application fee of $25, and a yearly display fee of $20. The yearly fee will be donated to the Community Health Care Financing Fund to continue to promote health care and health care related services in the District of Columbia, including the construction of health care facilities and the operation of health care related programs, promoting breast cancer prevention and treatment.
DC DMV’s Acting Director Gabriel Robinson said that the agency is honored to have been able to design a tag promoting breast cancer awareness. “We are in the business of saving lives every single day by promoting the safe operation of motor vehicles, and now we have the ability to potentially save lives with this visual reminder of the importance of breast cancer awareness for women and men along with the fees that will support the Community Health Care Financing Fund.”
